A couple of weeks ago I went to the hair salon, told them to cut my hair really short so I don’t have to go back for another 3 months. The guy asked me “is the buzzer ok?” and I said “cool” (partly out of some teenage rage I was going through…)
And BUZZED I got.
I went about my usual routine and people commented about the new buzz. Many said “looks cool – not that many people can ‘pull it off'”.
My guess is, not that many people have tried it. I don’t think I am particularly “gifted” to sport a buzz cut. I just did it and be open to what happens. Out of curiosity, out of dare, out of the need to change. C’mon, it’s just hair – it doesn’t hurt to cut and they grow back. No limbs lost, nobody gets hurt.
To those who said “I can’t pull it off” (for anything) – have you TRIED to pull it off? Or are you just eyeing the task from a distance, letting the itty bitty shitting committee in your head run wild, toy around with your fear and limitation, and then draw the conclusion that you can’t, based on your preconceptions?
More often than not, you have to DO IT to know where you stand. Speculating from a distance can only get you so far. Experience it. Embody it. Embrace it.
