Powerful Intro to Your Presentation

When you are introducing yourself, or having someone introduce you in a presentation, it’s important to keep it short and sweet. Grab the attention of the audience, but don’t keep going because you don’t want them to get bored and glaze over when you are actually presenting your materials!

Include these three elements:

  1. Why you are relevant to your audience – e.g. you are lecturing to an audience struggling with obesity, you can tell them how you lost 100 pounds and have kept it off for 5 years – and your experience can help them lose their weight.
  2. Show off some credentials – have you been in the media? Published a book? Contributed to blog or magazines?
  3. Tell the audience the benefits of this presentation – what transformation they are going to experience?
